“Primarily a plein air painter, I’m part of an ever growing band of representational painters across the country. Landscapes are my main focus. But any subject is fair game. I try to capture the mood of the place and the lighting, which can be fleeting. Usually, I have a two to three hour window to paint before the setting has completely changed, or I can’t remember how it looked when I started to paint it. I don’t go for a high degree of ‘finish.’ I like to leave the viewer to finish interpreting the painting.......it’s more interesting than if the painting is completely spelled out.”
